Joel Hemphill Believes and Teaches:

God Himself is Coming

Rev. 1:4-5 “Grace be unto you, and peace, from him which is, and which was, and which is to come; andfrom the seven Spirits which are before his throne; and from Jesus Christ....”
Rev. 1:8 “I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the ending, saith the Lord, which is, and which was,and which is to come, the Almighty.” Note: This is God the Father speaking. See verses 4 and 5 above. Do not be misled by red letter edition bibles that have this in red as if Jesus is speaking. Some bibles such as the NLT and The Holman CSB have this verse in black because the scholars understood that it is God the Father, not Jesus, speaking. Jesus is never once in Scripture called “Almighty.”
Rev. 4:8 “And they rest not day and night, saying Holy, holy, holy, Lord God Almighty, which was, and is, and is to come.” Notice the similarity between this verse and Rev. 1:4 and Rev. 1:8.
Rev. 7:10 “Salvation to our God which sitteth upon the throne, (this is God on the throne, not Jesus) and unto the Lamb (Jesus).”
Rev. 7:15 “Therefore are they before the throne of God,....and he that sitteth one the throne shall dwell among them” (The throne in heaven is God’s throne. See Jesus’ statement Rev. 3:21).
Rev. 7:17 “And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes.”
Rev. 20:11-12 “And I saw a great white throne, and him that sat on it, from whose face the earth and the heaven fled away...and I saw the dead small and great, stand before God.” Please note: This pictures our awesome God. This is after Jesus’ 1000 year reign on earth, and it did not flee away from his face.
Rev. 21:2-4 “And I John saw the holy city, new Jerusalem, coming down from God out of heaven (Jesus is reigning on earth - God is in heaven), prepared... . And I heard a great voice out of heaven saying, Behold the tabernacle (habitation) of God is with men, and he will dwell with thee, and they shall be his people, and God himself shall be with them and be their God, and God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes.
Rev. 22:3-4 “....but the throne of God and of the Lamb shall be in it...and they shall see his face; and his name shall be in their foreheads.” Whose name is in their foreheads? Rev. 14:1 “And I looked, and lo, a Lamb stood on mount Zion, and with him 144,000, having his Fathers name written in their foreheads. The Lamb’s name is Jesus, but his Fathers name is in their foreheads. See John 17:11, “Holy Father, keep through thine own name those whom thou hast given me.”
Matt. 5:8 “Blessed are the pure in heart: for they shall see God.” This is Jesus speaking and they had already been blessed to see him.
